Sources and credits

Where every word and picture came from, what was recovered, and what is lost for good.

This is an independent rebuild of batonb2bnetwork.com, the B2B payments site of BATON Financial Services, Inc. The live domain now serves a Hostinger parking page, and the company’s other domain, batonfinancial.com, no longer answers at all.

Nothing here was invented as a company fact. The rebuilt pages follow the four pages the Internet Archive captured on 30 October 2020, and every image is the company’s own file, recovered from that same snapshot.

Where it came from

SourceWhat it supplied
LinkedIn company pageThe company description, HQ address, employee count (4), follower count (506), slogan, logo and the website field that confirmed the domain.
Internet Archive — 30 Oct 2020Four pages (/, /baton-member-bank.php, /merchant.php, /meet-the-team.php) and 98 asset files: 92 images, two stylesheets, three scripts.
The site’s own CSSThe palette (navy #336195, sky #6ab3e8, pale #f0f5f9, text #52565b) and the typeface, Roboto. Neither is a guess.
Internet Archive — 2019The privacy policy, last updated 31 March 2019, reproduced on its own page.
YouTube — @batonfinancial1884Three films the company made and still publishes: Accelerate cash flow, Stop chasing payments and Baton. Embedded click-to-play; the posters are the company’s own thumbnails.

The complete capture list is in _tools/archive/SOURCES.txt.

What was recovered

This is the most complete recovery in this series so far. The archive held:

  • Every photograph on the site — the five executive portraits, the team photograph, four page banners, three section photographs and the two closing ribbons.
  • Every icon — 40 of them, at their original sizes: the six Member Bank benefits, the ten home-page icons, the six network capabilities, the four program controls and the ten invoice-flow icons.
  • Two diagrams — the network schematic and the invoice payment flow chart.
  • The investor logos — Flybridge, Idinvest, Javelin, Reciprocal, Tectonic and X-Factor.
  • The stylesheet, which is where the colours and the typeface come from, and the corporate slogan from LinkedIn: Rapid, reliable invoice payments in as few as 3 business days. Your money on your terms.

What is lost

  • The Revenue Calculator page. The stylesheet still carries its rules, and the footer linked to it, but the page was never archived. Its two images (Calculator-Splash.jpg, arrow-cal.PNG) are gone too. The calculator on the payments page is a rebuild of the idea, not a reproduction, and it says so.
  • The client portal. The Log in button pointed at uaa.batonfinancial.com/uaa/login. That host no longer resolves and the application behind it was never captured.
  • The corporate site at batonfinancial.com — separate pages for Benefits, Careers, Company and News. It is a different site from the one this rebuild follows, and it is out of scope. It is also dead.

Deviations, stated plainly

  • The markup is new. The original was Bootstrap 4 with jQuery, a carousel, and a font loaded from Google. This rebuild is hand-written HTML and CSS with one small script, so it works offline and from a file. The palette, the typeface, the photographs and the section order are the original’s.
  • Nothing is requested from another server on load — no fonts, no analytics, no CDN. The films load only after a click, from youtube-nocookie.com.
  • Copy is shortened. The original ran long paragraphs; here the same sentences are kept but broken into cards, steps, tables and lists. Wording was not changed, only cut.
  • The pages were .php. They are .html here, because there is no server.
  • The navigation is slightly wider. The original had two links and a log-in button; this adds Contact and Meet the Team to the header, so nothing in the footer is a dead end.
  • No forms. The original had none on these four pages either. Contact is by email and telephone, as published.

Licences

  • Photographs, icons and diagrams — the company’s own, recovered from its site. No stock photography was used anywhere in this rebuild, so there is nothing to credit beyond the company itself.
  • Roboto — Apache License 2.0, self-hosted as a variable woff2 in assets/font/, converted from the Google Fonts release.
  • Film thumbnails — the company’s own YouTube thumbnails, downloaded so that the page makes no external request until a film is clicked.
